President Donald Trump provided well-wishes to reporters aboard Air Force One as he returned to the United States following his state go to to the United Kingdom.
But he then added a remark that critics mentioned proved his self-centeredness.
“Thank you, all people. Have a great flight. Fly safely,” Trump informed the press pool after railing towards late-night comedians who mock him, amid the uproar over ABC’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel.
Then he added: “You know why I say that? Because I’m on the flight. Otherwise I wouldn’t care.”

The quip, which Trump delivered with a smile, went viral on social media.
And whereas Trump’s supporters dismissed it as playful banter from the president, it instantly drew accusations of narcissism and extra.
Earlier Thursday, a helicopter carrying Trump to London’s Stansted Airport made an sudden touchdown after experiencing what the White House described as a “minor hydraulic situation.”
