Spanish PM slams US ‘extrajudicial operations’ off Venezuela



Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez condemned as “unacceptable” the “extrajudicial operations” carried out by the United States on alleged drug-trafficking boats off Venezuela, in an interview printed Friday.

Speaking to Italy’s L’Espresso journal, the Socialist premier urged a peaceable decision to the rising disaster between President Donald Trump’s administration and Caracas, which have sparked fears of an open battle.

Asked about what the reporter characterised as US extrajudicial killings in worldwide waters, Sánchez stated: “The questioning of worldwide legislation is, as soon as once more, worrying.”

He stated the operations gas criticism that the West is inconsistent and applies “double requirements” on defending worldwide legislation.

“We should discover paths for dialogue and a peaceable resolution to this disaster,” he continued.

“In my opinion, these extrajudicial operations are unacceptable, they undermine worldwide legislation.”

Washington has been piling strain on Venezuela for months, with a significant naval buildup within the area that has been accompanied by lethal strikes on alleged drug-trafficking boats, killing practically 90 individuals.
