Staff on the Monash Sustainable Development Institute (MSDI) “strongly oppose” the deliberate scrapping of the institute, saying doing so would contradict the college’s said objectives and danger its standing as a worldwide chief in sustainability.
A submission to the college, written on behalf of a majority of MSDI employees and submitted earlier this month, calls on Monash to rethink the plan.
“MSDI’s cohesive construction, each day collaboration throughout disciplines and schools, and shared operational methods make it a sensible mechanism underpinning the achievement of the college’s sustainability objectives,” says the submission, which was leaked to Crikey.
