Investigators deployed to scene following a prepare derailment close to Cranbrook, B.C.


An investigation is underway after a number of vehicles of a Canadian Pacific Kansas City prepare derailed about 16 kilometres east of Cranbrook, B.C.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada says a staff of investigators has been despatched to the scene.

CPKC says in an announcement that the derailment happened round 7 a.m. in a distant space within the Regional District of East Kootenay in southern B.C., and there aren’t any accidents.

The railway firm says a preliminary evaluation exhibits that about 12 vehicles have been concerned, together with some carrying wooden merchandise and tanker vehicles carrying propane.

CPKC says its crews and gear have responded to the location to conduct a full evaluation and start work on cleanup.

The reason for the derailment remains to be below investigation.

The Regional District of East Kootenay says it’s conscious of a prepare derailment alongside the Kootenay River, close to Fenwick Road, which is now closed to the general public.

The regional district says it’s asking individuals to keep away from the world as officers are working with companies to assist the railway firm of their response.
