Germany is sending troopers to strengthen Poland’s jap border with Belarus and Russia, a number of media reported on Saturday.
Several dozen German troopers will be part of Poland’s East Shield from April 2026, with the mission initially operating till the top of 2027, Deutsche Welle reported, citing Berlin’s protection ministry.
German troops will deal with engineering work, in keeping with a ministry spokesperson quoted within the report. The spokesperson described this as constructing positions, digging trenches, laying barbed wire and developing anti-tank obstacles.
The East Shield is a €2.3 billion program introduced by Warsaw final yr to bolster safety alongside its jap border.
