Cull of 400 B.C. ostriches to go forward, court docket of enchantment guidelines

The Federal Court of Appeal has denied an utility for one more keep order to delay a cull of about 400 ostriches at a British Columbia farm.

Last Saturday, the court docket granted an interim keep that spared the lives of the ostriches from being destroyed due to avian influenza.

In a letter filed within the Federal Court of Appeal on Thursday, a lawyer for the ostrich farm mentioned the CFIA was “imminently” mobilizing to implement the cull order.

In the choice dated Saturday, the Federal Court of Appeal granted an interim keep till the keep movement “is set on the idea of a full document.”

That choice has now been denied.

Universal Ostrich Farms, situated within the B.C. Interior group of Edgewood, has been making an attempt to cease the Canadian Food Inspection Agency from destroying the birds for the reason that cull was ordered amid an avian flu outbreak in December 2024 that killed 69 ostriches.
