Bullet present in shoe after man shot in foot on Manchester road


Officers are looking for the wrongdoer

Armed officers stormed an east Manchester property after a person was shot within the foot in a single day.

Police had been referred to as out to Highgate Crescent, in Gorton, at round 12.15am this morning (September 20).

Greater Manchester Police says a 22-year-old man was shot by an unknown offender who fled the scene.

Luckily, the sufferer escaped with only a graze. A cordon is now in place close to Highgate Crescent because the investigation steps up.

An space of Wayland Road has been taped off, together with a wooded space close-by.

Forensic investigators have been seen finishing up fingertip searches and taking photographic proof.

Detectives don’t consider the incident is related to 2 shootings in Newton Heath earlier this week, in Ainthorpe Walk and Ballantine Street, which have been linked to one another by investigators.

A big police presence stays in attendance this afternoon (Saturday).

A GMP spokesperson stated: “Officers responded to stories of a firearms discharge on Highgate Crescent in Gorton at round 12:15am this morning (Saturday, September 20).

“A person was shot within the foot by an unknown man, who fled from the scene. Firearms officers attend and positioned a bullet within the sufferer’s shoe.

“Thankfully, the sufferer suffered solely a graze and no severe accidents. We consider this incident isn’t linked to the firearms discharges in Newton Heath earlier this week.

“A scene stays in place, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.”
