Countryfile’s Adam Henson revealed some devastating information throughout Sunday’s episode of the BBC programme.
Adam met the three finalists vying for the title of Young Countryside Champion at this 12 months’s BBC Food & Farming Awards. But it was beekeeper Dafydd Pett’s story that took an emotional flip.
The finalist from Bridgend revealed that he was decided to hold on beekeeping after his grandfather’s tragic demise.
Opening the shifting phase, Adam stated, “Back in June, we requested you to place ahead a Young Countryside Champion for the BBC Food and Farming Awards 2025,” stories the Express.
“An adolescent who made an actual distinction to the UK countryside, and from all of the sensible nominees, we have needed to slender it down to only three finalists.

Opening up about his journey and the place his devotion began, Dafydd revealed, “My grandfather first received me into beekeeping after I was 11 years previous.
“First of all, it was sooner or later a weekend, after which we ended up spending the entire weekend collectively doing the beekeeping. At that point, I utterly fell in love with it.”
Dafydd went on, “In 2017, sadly, he handed away. It was an emotional time. Nobody else within the household had ever been within the bees.
“So if I did not take them on at 14 years of age, they’d have been deserted, and that is not what my grandfather would have needed.”
He continued, “It was such a duty at such a younger age. The first time I opened the hive, I’ll be utterly sincere, I misplaced some confidence as a result of I did not have my grandfather.
“I sort of stepped up and simply thought to only get caught in and run them the best way that my grandfather would have needed them to be run.
“I knew that having these bees, in addition to making a optimistic affect on our ecosystem. It made me really feel actually proud.”
