
BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 25. SOCAR Green,
the “inexperienced” division of the state oil and gasoline firm SOCAR, is
implementing initiatives within the area of renewable power sources
(RES) with a complete capability of 1.66 GW, the corporate’s photo voltaic and
wind power specialist, Elchin Targuluyev stated, Trend studies.
He made the comment on the sidelines of the Azerbaijan and
Central Asia Green Energy Week 2025 in Baku.
According to him, SOCAR Green was established on March 1, 2024,
and is a key hyperlink in SOCAR’s transformation into a contemporary power
firm. The firm is chargeable for growing inexperienced initiatives
and implementing carbon footprint discount targets: decreasing
emissions depth by 30 % and absolute emissions by 20
% by 2035, in addition to reaching carbon neutrality by
2050.
Today, SOCAR Green’s portfolio contains large-scale initiatives in
cooperation with the UAE and China. Together with Masdar, initiatives
with a complete capability of 1 GW are being carried out: 445 MW of
photo voltaic power in Bilasuvar, 315 MW of solar energy in Neftchala, and
240 MW of wind energy in Absheron. The firm can be engaged on an
modern venture known as “Shafag” (240 MW), which entails the
digital transmission of power from a solar energy plant in Jabrayil
to the Sangachal oil and gasoline terminal.
In addition, SOCAR Green is cooperating with Chinese companions
China Energy, Power China, and China Tata Corporation to implement
initiatives with a complete capability of 420 MW. All these amenities are
scheduled to be commissioned in 2027–2028.
