A person on the run from police in Italy was arrested on Saturday in Galatone, within the southern Puglia area, after he was found posing as a statue in a large-scale Nativity scene.

The man, a 38-year-old from Ghana, was first noticed within the crib scene by none apart from the city’s mayor, Flavio Filoni, in line with native information outlet LeccePrima.

Filoni was passing by the Nativity scene in Piazza Santissimo Crocifisso when he seen the extremely lifelike determine, whose real looking options made him initially contemplate contacting the organisers to congratulate them.

After abandoning this concept the person entered the close by church the place he tried to get undressed, by which stage the police intervened and took him to the station in Nardò.

It was there that the police found that the person had been issued with a nine-month jail order in Bologna for aggravated assault and resisting a public official.

He was arrested on the spot and brought to Lecce jail.
