A 54-year-old man died whereas maintaining his younger son afloat after their kayak capsized in a state lake in Perris, the California Department of Parks and Recreation introduced on Sunday.
The father, who was not recognized by the state company, died whereas maintaining his 7-year-old son above water throughout the tragedy, which unfolded Saturday afternoon at Lake Perris State Recreation Area.
“The father heroically stored his son afloat all through the ordeal, supporting him till rescue personnel arrived,” the division stated in an announcement.
After stories of screaming and panic close to Moreno Beach, state parks officers had been dispatched to the scene shortly after 4 p.m., based on the company.
