Dhaka: Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal (ICT-BD) on Monday, November 17, ordered a dying sentence for former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for “crimes in opposition to humanity” dedicated in the course of the widespread protests in opposition to her authorities in July final 12 months.
Notably, after Hasina’s authorities was toppled on August 5, 2024, she has been dwelling in India. Earlier, she was declared a fugitive by the courtroom.
While announcing the decision, the tribunal mentioned the prosecution had proved past an affordable doubt that Hasina was behind the lethal crackdown on student-led protests between July 15 and August 15 final 12 months.
The tribunal concluded hearings on October 23 after 28 working days. During the listening to 54 witnesses had been testified in regards to the Hasina authorities’s response to the student-led motion that toppled Hasina’s authorities on August 5, 2024.
